by rundown automobiles
where we leaned our bodies
to appreciate sunsets
for a few brief seconds,
the world didn't watch.
when the rains came down,
there were clouds,
so the stars didn't watch.
we have been music
lost to time,
we have been laughter eaten by silence;
throughout history,
we have always been
like birds of a browbeat afternoon -
looking at the skies, heads slanted,
thinking.
